a thought from a thought

In a continuation of a thought after reading Mark's post and talking to him a lil' about it - I ask this question:

If there wasn't a mystery, would I be chasing God out of pure love, or do I chase Him out of selfishness sometimes just b/c I want to know the answers?

What is my true motivation?

Do I love God for who He is or what He has to offer? Which, granted, what God has to offer is a big part of who He is....but you know what I'm saying.

If God took all of His blessings from my life, would I love Him just the same?

Thoughts to ponder....

Enjoy.

Soooo, I have over 10 tests in 3 and a half weeks. I'm pretty pumped about it. haha. I'd just like to say this.....

Little bit of sun on my skin
A hammock, a book
Never gonna look back
Once my feet hit the sand"

The Burning Heart

God is cool, and pretty direct sometimes when you really need/want Him to be. In my prayers today, I asked that He would set my heart on fire - among other things - but this was definitely a specific desire, prayer, question, longing, etc. And as soon as I finished praying I opened up Oswald directly to a page entitled: "The Burning Heart" that used Luke 24:32 as a reference: 'Did not our hearts burn within us?'

Nice.

I'll leave you with this....

"We cannot kindle when we will
The fire which in the heart resides,
The spirit bloweth and is still,
In mystery our soul abides;
But tasks in hours of insight will'd
Can be through hours of gloom fulfill'd."

uhh, I need to dry my hair...

I'm pretty sure today I heard one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard as an excuse to stop talking to me. It went something like this:

"OK well, I've gotta go." -Bri
"Why?" -me
"I dunno, I've gotta listen to music for a minute." -Bri
(lots of laughter)
"wow, I think that's the lamest excuse I've ever heard." -me
"yea, it was pretty bad wasn't it?" -Bri

haha. Gotta love it. It was a totally legit need, it just came across really really funny.

I have now been "Kelly Kapouski'd" -- yes, that's how I'm now going to term it. Remember when Zack kept trying to call her to ask her to the dance, but she couldn't go because her dad lost her job and she couldn't afford it? Everytime he called she said "I have to go, I have to dry my hair" or something of the sorts to try to end the conversation quickly.

Yessssssss............

haha, I love you Bri. :-)

oh you know....

I love March. It's true. You can almost bet that anytime you turn on the tv college basketball is going to be on. And that's really really fantastic. It's also season changing time so it's getting warmer and the days start getting longer - that ALWAYS brings a smile.

Last night Bri and I played frisbee and did some rather amazing gymnastics on the grounds of our state capital & I'll have to tell you it was some of the most random fun I've had in a long time. I mean, frisbee golf aiming for statues and memorials of our state leaders, handstands in front of the confederate flag, ballet and "snow globe-ing" on the front steps...you can't get much better. I'll be honest when I tell you that I am pretty much one of the most amazing gymnists you'll ever meet. Sure, Bri used to be in "competitions" but I'm sure if you ask her she'll bow gracefully down to my greatness. We had an audience - and I told her you either have an audience if you're REALLY bad or REALLY good ---- and I voted the later of the two. haha.

Yesterday afternoon my dad and I hungout. It was super. We went to the gun store to get some bullets and targets, then went out to the shooting range in Newberry where I got to shoot 3 different hand-guns, including a 22, 25 and 357 magnum. That's right...it was awesome. Then we went out to the woods and walked around -- "hiked" if you will -- and looked for turkey tracks, etc. for when turkey season opens in a few weeks, so my dad could scout out where he was going to go. We stopped at this little hole in the wall convenience store and I got a good laugh when I saw a sign on the cork board by the door. You know people don't tend to leave the small town they grow up in when you see this on the bulletin board of the convenience store: "Mid-Carolina class of 1976 it's time for our 30 year class reunion!! Call Dan." It was great.

I got to go to Clemson for a few days this week. Went to the dam and skipped rocks, ate at ancheaux's, walked around campus under the stars, watched a movie and hungout by the fire with my beau, had breakfast @ pot belly deli with Linds, which was really great, got to see Leslie play in the intramural girls basketball championship in Littlejohn & sit and chat with her for awhile about life, got to eat lots of ice cream with AJ while making her fall on the floor in laughter on aisle 14 (yes, I have pictures of this), and got to see the Tigers win their first round game of the NIT on the front row. Yes, you can all be jealous of these things. haha.

OK - now I must go get in the shower b/c I just got back from a run, so I can catch the 2nd half of the Duke - George Washington game.

Hope y'all are doing awesome. PEACE...

PS - I really don't like the Applebee's commercial where the 2 guys are playing instruments and singing an applebee's song to the Gilligan's Island theme tune. For some reason it just gets to me...maybe b/c it's on ALL THE TIME. It just came on, so I thought I'd throw that out there.

a bad idea.

Let me just go ahead throw something out there that was poor planning on someone's part.

Whoever the genius was that decided it'd be a good idea to distribute girl scout cookies right before the spring/summer swim suit season, was in fact, a moron.

I'm pretty sure I've consumed a whole box and a half in approximately 2 days....YIKES.
